When electric cars first entered the mainstream market, they had one significant flaw: a low driving range.
The 2010 Nissan Leaf, the first mass-market EV, offered a mere 100 miles of range and required eight hours for a full home charge.
Thankfully, times have changed dramatically. Today's most affordable electric cars boast double the Leaf's range and significantly reduced charging times.
Thanks to substantial advancements in battery and motor technology, some modern EVs can now travel as far on a single charge as petrol cars do on a full tank.
But which electric cars can travel the longest distance without needing to charge? We’ve the 15 longest range electric cars right here.
Read on to find out more…

BMW i7
The BMW i7 continues the 7 Series’ tradition of producing ulaimte luxury for its passengers, but it’s also a great option for those who want to travel long distances.
All i7 models feature a battery with a usable capacity of 101.7kWh. This allows the eDrive50 to achieve an official range of up to 610km (379 miles) and the eDrive60 up to 623km (387 miles). However, the actual range may vary slightly based on wheel size and optional extras.
The EQS and i7 have similar charging rates of 207kW and 200kW, respectively. The i7's battery can charge from 20-80% in approximately 32 minutes, provided a public charger with a sufficient rate is available. Alternatively, a full charge from zero using a standard 7kW home EV charger is estimated to take 14 hours and 17 minutes.

The Audi A6's impressive on-paper range of 745 km (463 miles) is one of the largest figures on the market, and will mean you can travel further than its key competitors: the BMW i5 and Mercedes-Benz EQE.
True to A6 tradition, drivers can opt for either a saloon or estate body style. However, the estate sacrifices 42 km (26 miles) of range due to its slightly less aerodynamic design.
