Greenwich fast-charging time: Fastned opens new 300kW hub

6 Jun 2022

Amsterdam-based electric vehicle charging firm Fastned has launched its first ultra-rapid charging station in London

Located in the London Borough of Greenwich, the new site has six bays that can charge at speeds of up to 300kW, using what Fastned claims is renewable energy. It is similar to the recent eight-charger site the firm opened in Hamilton, Scotland recently.

The new site is Fastned’s 11th in the UK, although its first in London and the south. Fastned’s UK boss Tom Hurst said: “We’ve developed significant expertise in providing ultra-rapid charging across Europe and in the North East of England, so we’re excited to bring this experience to the capital.”

The site is located on Ramac Way, just off the A206 Woolwich Road in Greenwich. It is close to the Blackwall Tunnell Southern Approach Road, and on the edge of a development containing a coffee shop and range of shops (it’s also close to Ikea Greenwich, flatpack and meatball fans).

Fastned recently opened its 200th fast charging station in Europe, with 133 of those located in the Netherlands. It also has 34 in Germany, and other sites in Belgium, France and Switzerland. As well as the 11 sites now in operation in the UK, the firm says it is working on more than 10 further sites.
