What’s better than a Volkswagen ID Buzz? A Volkswagen ID Buzz you can camp in, obviously. And the first to be offered in the UK will be revealed this week.

Wild Drives, a British firm that specialises in electric camper van hire, has created what it claims is the first ID Buzz camper available for hire in the UK. The machine has been converted by Ease Sussex-based Love Campers, and turns the machine’s standard MPV interior into a full camping unit.

So the conversion will offer a slat bed and a kitchenette featuring a hob, sink and fridge. The use of ply laminate and bamboo for the interior trim is intended to give a bright, retro feel, while Love Campers has also added a solar panel on the roof to ensure the camper can be used in an off-grid setting.

Its will also come with a litter picker and sustainable bin liners to make it easy for campers to clean up after themselves.

While Wild Drivers has given some details of the machine it has yet to show off the interior in detail, with a reveal set for the Fully Charged Live event later this week.

Company founded Lewis Nyman said: ““It will be a two-toned warm yellow wrapper exterior with a professional high-quality scandi/mid-century interior design. It's going to look amazing.”

The machine will cost from £150 per night to hire from Wild Drives.

Volkswagen is working on an official ID Buzz California camper, but the machine is unlikely to arrive until the second half of the decade.
