Moke owner partners with Callum to design new electric cars

10 Nov 2022

EV Technology Group (EVTG) has formed a new partnership to design future premium electric cars with consultancy outfit Callum, a firm spearheaded by ex-Jaguar designer, Ian Callum.

Design and engineering firm Callum produces an array of bespoke products and is best known for its Aston Martin Vanquish recreation, as well as the Prodrive Hunter rally car. Intriguingly it also makes whiskey.

Callum will be responsible for research and development projects for future vehicle designs within EVTG’s brand portfolio. EVTG recently acquired Marazzi, Fantuzzi, Stampaggi Industriali and Moke International, producer of the new electrified Mini Moke.

The EV Technology Group says it plans to expand further with more iconic brands, and aims to “bring back the joy of motoring in an electric age” by supporting their transition to electrification.

“At Callum our mission is to create design stories that stir the imagination,” said Ian Callum.

“The sheer scale of the ambition of EV Technology Group and its mission to reinvent iconic brands is brimming with potential to do just that.”

EVTG CEO Wouter Witvoet added, “As EV Technology Group builds a house of brands with such iconic marques, it’s essential that we establish the right pillars, the right templates and harness world class strategies at an early stage.

“I am delighted that a renowned industry leader such as CALLUM will direct us and assist us as we prepare for future growth. We are already seeing great results, and this could lead to participating in many future projects.”

Earlier this year EVTG announced it had agreed a leasehold of a 90,000sq ft site in Silverstone which will become the firm’s EV Centre of Excellence.
